Bills, meters and consumption

What does half-hourly energy data tell us?

Why does half-hourly data matter to our business?

Half-hourly electricity data shows how much energy a supply point uses during each 30-minute period. It reveals when demand occurs, not simply the total consumed. This can help validate bills, identify unexpected baseload, compare sites and assess solar, batteries or operational changes.

Consumption has a shape

Two sites can use the same annual kWh but at very different times. Interval data shows opening-hour demand, overnight baseload, seasonal patterns and peaks.

Questions the data can support

The data does not make the decision by itself, but it provides evidence for useful questions.

  • Is equipment running when the site is closed?
  • Which buildings behave unusually?
  • Do peaks affect capacity or contract decisions?
  • Would on-site solar coincide with consumption?
  • Could operations be shifted away from expensive periods?

Keep site identity attached

For an estate, retain the MPAN, physical location, meter and legal account relationship. Aggregating data without those links can hide billing or attribution errors.
