How we work
Editorial and commercial independence
Commercial relationships must not decide what our guidance says, whether a factual check is passed, or which provider is presented as suitable.
Editorial decisions
Topics, explanations and conclusions are selected for their usefulness to UK commercial energy decision-makers. Providers and delivery partners cannot purchase a favourable conclusion or removal of accurate criticism.
How the site is funded
Energy Guide may receive a fee when a visitor asks for help and we introduce a delivery partner. We disclose that possibility before contact information is submitted. General access to the Guide is not conditional on requesting an introduction.
Listings and payment
Being listed, claimed or Directory-checked is separate from eligibility to receive an introduction. Payment must never buy a stronger factual status, concealed ranking advantage or implied endorsement. Any future sponsorship or paid presentation will be labelled.
Authors and reviewers
Material guidance should identify who prepared or reviewed it, the sources used and when it was last reviewed. Specialist or regulated subjects may require an appropriately experienced reviewer before publication.
Conflicts and errors
Relevant commercial relationships should be disclosed. Authors and reviewers must flag conflicts, uncertainty and material disagreements in the evidence. Errors are corrected under our published corrections process.
