Decision-maker scenarios
Energy decisions for CFOs and finance directors
What should a CFO ask about commercial energy?
A finance leader needs visibility of contractual exposure, total cost, cash timing, authority, material assumptions and downside—not every industry acronym. The useful control is a reconciled portfolio linked to accountable decisions.

Ask for the controlled portfolio view
Request sites, legal entities, supply points, consumption, contract dates, advisers, charges and forecast exposure in one traceable register.
Separate decisions
Procurement, efficiency, solar, storage and compliance may interact but have different evidence and approvals.
- Total contract cost and broker remuneration
- Fixed and variable cost components
- Authority to negotiate and sign
- Budget sensitivity and downside cases
- Capital, lease or PPA obligations
- Measurement and benefits ownership
- Exit, change and portfolio risks
Make assumptions reviewable
Require source dates, owners and approval records for material assumptions. A confident forecast without its evidence is not a control.
