Build a business energy procurement data pack

What information should we prepare before seeking business energy prices?

Give every bidder the same dated and checked information so offers use the same organisations, sites, meters, periods and assumptions. Keep authority documents separate and no broader than the procurement requires.

Company and estate identity

Record the contracting legal entity and company number separately from every physical location. For each site, connect the billing address, supply address, MPAN or MPRN, meter, supplier account and contract.

Consumption and current arrangements

Include at least 12 months of bills and consumption where available, retain raw half-hourly files, and explain abnormal periods or planned operational changes.

  • Current supplier, product and account reference
  • Contract start and end dates and notice requirements
  • Unit rates, standing charges and material pass-through items
  • Opening hours, seasonal demand and planned site changes
  • Renewable, reporting, budget and risk requirements

Issue one controlled pack

Freeze a dated version, record corrections and require bidders to identify missing or estimated data. Ask for like-for-like total cost, duration, payment and credit terms, broker remuneration, metering services, exclusions and quote expiry. Preserve the source bills, offers and decision record.
